Mount Lemmon is one of my favorite places in Tucson, Arizona. The drive is spectacular with scenic views and vastly changing ecosystems. AND the temperatures are always a bit cooler as the elevation climbs, making it a perfect escape during the summer months!
Mount Lemmon is a popular climbing playground, although I have not had the opportunity to enjoy the routes the mountain has to offer. A great book for exploring different climbing opportunities is Squeezing the Lemmon.
Aspen Draw Trail - I have only hiked one trail on Mount Lemmon and it was coming down the Aspen Draw Trail after taking the ski lift up the mountain. The tall trees, shaded areas and quiet hike was extremely enjoyable. There was a fallen tree that was somewhat comical to get over, but that's part of the fun in hiking! This is also a popular mountain biking trail. This hike is 2.4 miles round-trip.
Windy Point Vista - I have hiked around the popular Windy Point Vista stop; not on an official trail. This is a lovely place to catch a Tucson sunset!
Iron Door Restaurant - there is no secret that I love this restaurant! The food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly, upbeat and always busy! There's an outdoor patio area and a cozy indoor cabin dining room. The best part about this restaurant is the amazing gluten-free individual pies :) I have driven up the mountain just for pie, on several occasions!
Do you have favorite hiking trails or climbs from Mount Lemmon? If so, I would LOVE to hear about them!
