My brother was in town last weekend and we decided it would be fun to explore the Kitt Peak National Observatory. Each evening, except during monsoon season, the observatory hosts Nightly Observing Programs for the public. I have heard great stories about the nightly program and admittedly was quite excited to look through the observing telescope!
When we arrived, the clouds were moving in and we were all a bit worried we might not have a chance to observe. We ended up having an exceptional night! The clouds rolled in for a beautiful Arizona sunset, and then rolled out for an open sky filled with stars like I have never seen in my life! Since we followed along with the program, I did not capture any photographs after sunset. I did, however, receive a map from one of the guides for a spot to use in the future for capturing the amazing sky the dark desert provides each night!
