Hate is a very strong word. And there are very few things I would associate with such a dreadful feeling. As you might imagine, trying to figure out what to photograph for this theme was tricky.
Initially, I thought traffic. Because I do, indeed, hate traffic. Maybe at night, with the lights streaming, to show the potentially beautiful side of traffic.
And then I found my self at an AMAZING national park (the Grand Canyon) on a holiday weekend. And my dislike of large crowds in nature suddenly came flooding back. A tour bus pulling up to my spot of beauty is the quickest way to get me to retreat, aside from say a large wild cat.
Naturally, a different spin was taken in this situation. I’m not one to photograph people, in masses, while enjoying their vacation. Instead, photographing the serene, beautiful, vast landscape still present before my eyes, even if I was shoulder to shoulder with people, became the focus.
You’d never know I was standing with 30 strangers when this was captured :) And I love the photograph.
Goal: Capture something hated.
