There’s no question that fall is my favorite season. I look forward to the crisp air, colorful leaves and beautiful skies all year long!
This year, I decided to take a road trip (10 hours each way) to one of my favorite mountain towns – Durango, Colorado. I packed up and hit the road during peak fall foliage season in southwest Colorado and spent days in awe of the natural beauty of the colorful leaves and snow capped mountains.
I spent the first day driving between Durango and Silverton along the scenic Route 550. The second day, I managed to do the full loop from Durango to Dolores, up to Telluride, through Ridgeway, Ouray and Silverton, making my way back down to Durango.
During the third day of my trip, I stayed in Durango and spent some down time enjoying the local restaurants and walking around town. My final day in town was spent on the fall photography tour on the Durango to Silverton Railroad. I’ll be writing about my experience on the train ride in a separate post.
All in all, it was an amazing trip! If you ever find yourself in southwest Colorado during their fleeting fall season, I recommend going for a nice drive and soaking in the amazing beauty that is sure to be all around you!
